I thought I'd let our visitors know how we put together our daily postings.
The first source is the day's Mass readings. We use Universalis and our copy of Magnificat for this. The day's hymn is based on the readings, the season, or the feast day, and is usually found in the Cyberhymnal.
Then we go to the Saints and Blesseds of the day. Even if a major feast is being celebrated, there are always a few more saints remembered on any given day. We don't post them all, but we try to choose the ones who have specific patronages, or have founded or reformed religious orders, or have lived in more recent times. For example, the post for March 8 has a petition for the people of Iceland, since St. Jon Helgi Ogmundarson evangelized that island.
After these two sources, we turn to email requests and as much of St. Blog's as we can surf. We always link to the blogpost, and try to remember to leave a reply, letting them know that they are remembered at this site.
Lastly, we turn to the day's events, and pray for the world around us.
Dave usually works on the hymn, the readings, and the saints; while Amy does the surfing for St. Blog's requests.
One note: if you do send in prayer requests via email, please make "Prayers", "Prayer Requests", or such as the heading. For some odd reason, we get a lot of scammail at this address.
